Opposition Leader Owen Arthur yesterday described Prime Minister Freundel Stuart’s latest move in the Alexandra School impasse as “totally disgraceful and worse than ridiculous” and advised parents of affected students to take the Government to court.
The former Prime Minister, who expressed major disappointment with Stuart’s decision to set up a commission of inquiry, said drawing out the two-and-a-half-month dispute was “shocking” and put the education of students in jeopardy.
He said Stuart deserved less than a failing grade for his handling of the matter.
“The welfare of the children and their education is not something you can trifle with and once he got into it, he had a duty to ensure that their welfare and education were protected and advanced. This fooling around is just ridiculous,” Arthur said, adding that Stuart’s decision was “worse than doing nothing”.
