THE BARBADOS-BASED Regional Security System (RSS) is on track to achieve the standardisation of training across its member states.
So says the Regional Security Coordinator with the RSS, Grantley Watson.
According to Watson, this position has been seemingly elusive over the past few years, despite the emphasis on the need for training of officers within law enforcement agencies.
“The inability to further develop officers will impede our ability to respond to national and regional security threats,” he said.
“Traditionally, we here in the region would have depended on the UK to provide advance and senior training to our police officers but that, though welcomed, didn’t provide training for everyone at the senior ranks.
