SHARON?PRIMARY?and Eden Lodge will be playing in this morning’s semi-finals of the CGI Primary Schools Hockey Camp at the Netball Stadium after proving to be the superior forces in yesterday’s Zone II competition.
Sharon will clash with St Mary’s in the skills as well as the league semis while Eden Lodge will battle Luther Thorne in both competitions.
Eden Lodge captured the skills yesterday with a maximum 15 points while Sharon ended second with 12 points.
Lawrence T. Gay were third with nine points.
All Saints Boys netted six, All Saints Girls three, with Hillaby Turner’s Hall taking the cellar with no points. Hillaby did not participate in the league competition which saw a reversal of the top positions.
Rallying behind a tournament high three goals from O’Shae Gilkes and strong suppor from Jabarry Leacock, Sharon took the top spot with 12 points.  Both the highly skilled Akobe Aymes and Zackim Lashley scored three goals each for Eden Lodge but they had to settle for the second position with seven points.
All Saints Boys ended on seven points as well with the better goals difference helping Eden Lodge to snatch the qualifying berth.  All Saints girls earned three points while Sharon did not win a game in the league.
Aymes was obviously head and shoulders above the other primary school players and this saw the other schools double teaming the talented performer.  In the opening match against neighbours, Lawrence T. Gay, Aymes was thwarted on several occasions by the defenders.
That opened the path for the solid Lashley to score the lone goal for victory against L. T. Gay.  Lashley and Aymes scored twice in the 4-0 rout of All Saints girls while Reginald Yarde-Deane scored twice in the 2-all draw with All Saints boys.  Rashawn Worrell and Javonte Howell struck for the boys from the North.
The speed and all-round play of Sharon stunned Eden Lodge who went up one goal with a strike from Levo Small.  With time running out Aymes equalized before a running play from Gilkes ended with a diving shot on bars for Sharon to take the game.
Sharon then took out All Saints boys 1-0 thanks to Leacock while Shaquan Sealy scored in the 1-0 win over L.T. Gay.  A double from Gilkes with goals from Leacock, Small and Kiara Daniel ended in a 5-0 demolition of All Saints girls even though Sharon fielded many of their reserves. (KB)
