AFTER LOSING their first two matches, Remii Ballers finally got a win when the Barbados Workers’ Union Netball Competition continued at the Netball Stadium Monday night.
Remii Ballers moved to 1-2 after a 44-38 victory over Police Girls Club in the Sir Roy Trotman Zone.
With an 86 per cent accuracy, Alicia Lashley scored 24 goals from 28 attempts as Remii built on their slim 22-19 half-time lead. Kelly-Ann Knight gave good support with 20 from 29 at goal attack to seal the victory.
In the Linda Brooks “A” Zone, St Andrew Ballers dealt Church Village another defeat, doubling up 48-24. Danicia King scored 28 from 38 and former national Natasha Bridgeman 20 from 34 for St Andrew.
Megan Holder and Debbie Gibson scored 12 goals each, but wasted too many attempts.
Behind an 18-from-22 performance by veteran Janita Austin, UAC beat the Royal Barbados Police Force 28-26 in the Linda Brooks Zone B.
Crystal Trotman scored nine from 11 and Tabitha Chapman added the other in the close match.
Alicia Archer scored 18 from 29 and Maggie Butcher eight from 21.
In the Ulric Sealy Zone, Barbados Youth Service rebounded from defeat to beat Shottas United 20-11. Andrea Springer and Tanisha Maynard scored ten each, while Gabrielle Rock and Shanise Jackman combined for Shottas’ 11 goals.
Only one match was played on a rain-affected Sunday. Friendship, trailing 10-11 at half-time bounced back to draw 18-18 with Faith Emmanuel Pentecost Ballers. (SAT)
