Prime Minister Freundel Stuart has met with officials of the union representing Government workers to put matters pertaining to temporary employees “into perspective”.
A day after Tuesday’s talks with the head of the Civil Service and other top officials, Stuart met with president of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) Walter Maloney, general secretary Dennis Clarke and deputy general secretary Roslyn Smith, a statement from the Government Information Service said.
“The Prime Minister underscored the critical role the NUPW has to play in helping its membership and said it was, therefore, necessary to put all the issues into perspective so the union could advise accordingly,” the statement said.
During the meeting at Ilaro Court which was also attended by Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Service Alyson Forte, Acting Chief Personnel Officer Margaret Mayers, and Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Sonja Welch, Stuart told the NUPW that he had met with the relevant officials and a set of procedures to govern the process outlined in the Budget were devised.
