THE BARBADOS WORKERS’ UNION (BWU) will soon be approaching Government, through the umbrella Congress of Trade Unions and Staff Associations of Barbados (CTUSAB), for a new salary and wage agreement for public servants.
But general secretary Sir Roy Trotman has given the assurance that in the negotiations the union would take the country’s current economic climate into consideration.
Sir Roy told the SATURDAY SUN that, following a presentation by Deputy Central Bank of Barbados Governor Harold Codrington at the BWU’s mid-term meeting last Sunday, proposals were being discussed.
“We agreed that the executive council should now have further consultations among themselves and with the congress with a view to approaching Government on the matter of the upcoming salaries negotiations,” he said.
