There were lots of cones in Bridgetown last week, but they had nothing to do with the icy treat to beat the sweltering heat.
Bright orange cones were on just about every junction leading to and on Broad Street, as workmen from the Ministry of Transport and Works gave the pedestrian crossings, arrows and other markings in the road a touch-up of white paint.
One worker told the DAILY NATION they were preparing the roads for a royal visit.
That being the case, the road to the Parliament Buildings should be spiffy for the arrival of the Earl and Countess of Wessex at the joint sitting of the House of Assembly and the Senate on Tuesday, February 23.
Prince Edward and his wife will be on a two-day visit to Barbados as part of the Caribbean tour to represent the Queen throughout the Diamond Jubilee year.
The Prince will unveil a plaque at Kensington Oval. The couple is also scheduled to visit Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and Montserrat. (YB)
