Police have launched a massive manhunt for two men who opened fire on patrolling officers in the upscale Navy Gardens, Christ Church neighbourhood late Saturday night.
Up to late last night, squads of plain clothes and uniformed officers, heavily armed and using tracker dogs, combed several districts across the island, looking for the wanted men, who remained at large up to the time of writing.
Constable Terry Pierre was detained at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) with gunshot injuries to his torso and right hand, while Sergeant Christine Husbands, a 19-year veteran, sustained four shots to the right leg during Saturday’s attack.
Husbands, who was treated at the QEH and discharged, has to return for surgery to remove the bullets.
