PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hit St Lucia today followed by a number of aftershocks, the Trinidad-based Seismic Unit of the University of the West Indies (UWI) has reported.
But there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
It said that the quake, struck east of St Lucia at 12.01 this morning, and was located at latitude 13.86 degrees north and longitude 60.47 west, with a depth of 23 kilometers.
“The magnitude was 5.3 and has so far been followed by four aftershocks,” the Seismic Unit said, adding that the quake was also felt in neighbouring St. Vincent and the French Caribbean island of Martinique. (CMC)
