PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLE (PSV) operators came in for another round of lashes yesterday.
Their conduct on the roads in St Thomas was one of the major concerns of residents at a meeting on the crime situation in the parish, held at The Lester Vaughan School.
Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin, who is a resident of St Thomas, and six members of staff ranging in rank from superintendent to constable heard several reports of daily overloading, reckless driving and unsocial conduct.
Responding to the concerns and refraining himself from being “reckless”, Dottin said the Police Force had spent “considerable time and resources” trying to regulate PSVs. He said the operators constituted a significant pressure group, and that legislators like parliamentary representative Cynthia Forde had to take the necessary measures to deal with the situation.
