Shai’s hope

GEORGETOWN – England-based?batsman Shai Hope hit a responsible unbeaten 84 but lacked real support as Jamaica’s captain Donovan Nelson gave his side early control of their top-of-the-table clash with Barbados in the WICB Regional Under-19 Championship yesterday.
Leg-spinner Nelson grabbed four wickets for 38 runs from 24 overs, and Marquino Mindley collected two for 32 off 13.4 overs, as the Barbadians were dismissed for a modest 177 in their first innings.
 Hope, the younger brother of national senior batsman Kyle Hope, struck three fours from 285 balls in 4½ hours, to lead the Bajan batting effort before running out of partners, 16 short of what would have been a maiden century at this level.
All-rounder Justin Greaves scored 31, but no other Barbados batsman reached 20. (CMC)
