With over $100 000 up for grabs in the MQI/98.1 The One Soca Royale – Sweet Soca Competition, the nine competitors brought their best game faces to the audience.
But only Biggie Irie, Blood, Edwin Yearwood, Mikey and Red Plastic Bag (RPB) really got the entire place in a real frenzy.
TC had technical challenges in her second performance where all her presentation of explaining the history of calypso, her dancers and tampoliners had to start over after being on stage for a few minutes.
But she recovered spectacularly, ending her set elevated on a raised stage that said We Love Soca and with her shouting that no “sabotage” could stop her.
