ELAINE AND MERLYN Goddard returned to St Mary’s Church last month to renew their wedding vows, fifty years after the couple tied the knot at the historic Bridgetown church.
The Charles Rowe Bridge, St George couple invited family and friends to witness the renewal ceremony conducted by the Rev. Von Watson and to the amusement of all looking on, once again reaffirmed their love with a kiss at the altar.
Sharing the memories from the pews were Marcia Greaves, Elaine Green and Hetty Griffith, three of the bridesmaids who attended the attractive bride on June 16, 1962, as well as wedding guests Linda Spencer and Doriel Hazzard.
There were also friends from the Modern High School Alumni Association and from the Barbados Ex-Overseas And Friends Association.
Both trained nurses, Elaine and Merlyn lived in Canada for four years before relocating to Barbados.
Following the St Mary’s service, the couple hosted a reception in St Mary’s Church Hall.
