Barbados’ newest senator was sworn in yesterday.
Forty year old attorney-at-law, Verla De Peiza, took the Oath of Allegiance before Acting Governor-General, Elliot Belgrave, in a short ceremony at Government House. It was witnessed by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart.
De Peiza, has been a practising lawyer since October 2000 and is a Democratic Labour Party candidate for Christ Church West.
She is a former student of Harrison College and attended Queen Mary, University of London as well as the University of Southampton.
