Safety tips for visitors

In addition to receiving warm welcome letters, hotel guests in Barbados will also be getting tips on how to have a safe and enjoyable stay.
The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) has decided to revise and re-introduce a safety and security flyer that will be placed in every room of its member hotels, in an effort to reduce the risk of visitors becoming the victims of crime.
The decision to place greater emphasis on visitor safety follows a rash of attacks on visitors and locals believed to be fuelled by the cash-for-gold business on the island. Locals are being advised by the Royal Barbados Police Force not to wear their jewellry.
BHTA president Patricia Affonso-Dass told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday that some tourists who were robbed recently indicated they had no plans to return to Barbados.
