Nine companies have bid to supply Barbados with petroleum products and the winning bid should be announced early next month.

Chairman of the Barbados National Oil Company Limited (BNOCL) Alex McDonald told THE NATION local companies were among those bidding, but declined to say more because he did not want to prejudice the bidding process.

In December, BNOCL published a notice “inviting suitably qualified suppliers to tender for the supplying of refined petroleum products (unleaded gasoline and ultra low sulphur diesel) and the procurements of its indigenous crude oil”.

The deadline was last Friday and bids were opened on Thursday. (SAT)
