VENEZUELA’s late president Hugo Chavez may be gone, but he’s certainly not forgotten.
Last night, on the first anniversary of his demise, the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration, Friends of Venezuela Solidarity Committee, Cuban Barbadian Friendship Association held an African Spiritual ceremony at Pelican Village, The City, to celebrate his life.
Sitting up front were Venezuela’s Ambassador to Barbados Jose Gonzales Febres, founder of the Clement Payne Movement David Comissiong, and Pan Africanists David Denny and Robert “Bobby”?Clarke.
There were solidarity messages, redemption songs and tributes.
Arguably the most stirring tribute of the night was in performance poetry from theatre director and dramatist Sonia Williams. (MK)
