NORTH SOUND – Three times weren’t the charm for Kraigg Brathwaite yesterday. But things are still looking good for the Barbados four-day skipper from a team perspective, as the defending champs tightened the screws on the Leeward Islands at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
The patient opener fell in the 90s for the third time in this year’s Regional First-Class cricket tournament yesterday, making 92 on a day Barbados were bowled out for  326 in reply to the Leewards’ paltry innings total of 94 to drive home their advantage against their hosts.
At the close of the second day of their seventh-round match, the Leewards, fighting to avoid an innings defeat with a first innings deficit of 232, were 54 for two off 21 overs in their second innings – still trailing by 178 runs.
Brathwaite had started the day on 72, and cruised into the 90s looking  for his first ton of the tournament, but was trapped leg before, pushing forward to leg-spinner Anthony Martin. The  Windies opener batted for 331 minutes, faced 273 balls, and struck 11 fours.
