Attorney General Dale Marshall has called for greater collaboration among Caribbean countries as they combat money laundering.
Marshall made this call yesterday as he delivered the feature address at the opening session of the 48th Caribbean Financial Action Task Force plenary conference at Hilton Barbados.
Speaking to representatives from the 25 member states, Marshall said the region had to create its own means of handling problems like money laundering, human and drug trafficking and tax evasion.
“We need to adopt and develop holistic responses to the level of issues identified earlier,” Marshall said.
“And a part of this might mean that our regional organisations work more closely together, not only to provide much-needed data, but to shape our common approaches and responses. Time and time again, there’s been the call for research papers of indices of regional performance and on emerging issues,” he added. (AD)
