Black Friday plea

As businesses try to cash in with their Black Friday sales today, Barbadian shoppers are being urged to spend their money at home and not overseas.

President of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Ezra Prescod, made this plea in light of the “relatively flat” year many companies had.

“The reality is that . . . when you compare the pricing, we’re not that far off in terms of buck for buck, but I would encourage people to spend locally because we really need the money turning in our economy.

“And if we spend here, the money stays, it circulates in our economy and there is an element of restocking shelves and it helps to keep Barbadians employed,” Prescod said. (TG)
