Transport Board in for $45.47m

IN WHAT COULD BE its final sitting before the annual Christmas recess, the House of Assembly will today be asked to approve nearly $60 million in supplementary votes for three Government agencies.
However, with a packed Order Paper to service from 10 a.m., the House may well be forced to return for a rare Friday sitting a mere five days before Christmas.
The lion’s share of the $58.1 million – $45.47 million – goes to the cash-strapped Transport Board, while $9 million is for the Treasury to meet expenses associated with the National HIV/AIDS Commission, while $3.6 million will be for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It will be used mainly to cover salaries, employers’ contributions, electricity and telecommunications to the end of 2012-2013 and the cost of shipping the personal effects of diplomatic officers who are being transferred.
