Government agencies giving the private sector short timelines to make input in important matters, and calling meetings at short notice are a concern to businesses.
While a recent incident involving the Barbados International Business Association (BIBA) and the Financial Services Commission (FSC) was brought to the Parliament floor yesterday evening, BIBA executive chairman Henderson Holmes told the MIDWEEK NATION it was not just the international business sector facing this problem.
It was during debate on the Private Trust Companies Bill that the St Joseph MP and BIBA member Dale Marshall said the association was up in arms about a letter from the FSC that gave BIBA just seven days to comment on anti-money laundering and combating financing of terrorism guidelines.
The October 17 letter gave BIBA until today to respond. (DP)
