MEMBERS OF THE Public Accounts Committee (PAC) heatedly traded accusations yesterday as chairman, Opposition Leader Mia Mottley, amended the committee’s guidelines following concerns raised by the Government on procedural matters a month ago.
Minister of Industry Donville Inniss described Mottley’s keenness to address such procedures as a “naked rush”, saying nothing had been done about PAC procedures for years.
“Between Ms Mottley and Mr (Owen) Arthur for five and a half years never once saw it fit to bring these draft rules and procedures before the PAC for consideration. All of a sudden now there is this naked rush,” he told PAC members during the three-hour meeting in the Senate Chamber.
Opposition MP Kerrie Symmonds, however, accused the PAC’s Government members of stalling the committee’s work.  (RJ)
