An employee of the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) was granted bail today after being charged with unlawful and malicious wounding of a work colleague last week.
Monroe McDonald Pilgrim was granted bail in the sum of $2 500 with one surety from the District ‘A’ Court, and the matter adjourned by Magistrate Graveney Banninster until August 19.
Pilgrim, 52, of Airy Hill, St Joseph, pleaded not guilty to the charge of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Owen Weir, a fellow employee at the SSA, on July 24.
According to the court’s prosecutor Sergeant Rudy Pilgrim, Weir, 55, received stab wounds to his shoulder and left anterior chest area, and also complained of neck pain, after an incident between the two men last week. He was treated and discharged from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital the same day.
The court was also informed that Weir’s injuries were in no way life-threatening. (BA)
