West?Indies?fast bowler Kemar Roach made a welcome return to competitive cricket after a seven-month break to help CGI Maple secure a quarter-final berth in the Sagicor Twenty20 with an easy eight-wicket victory over BRC BCL yesterday.
Roach set back BCL with a fiery four-over opening burst for a mere ten runs, while taking the wicket of opening batsman Davon Goodman for a duck.
BCL?were routed for a meagre 77 with indisciplined running between the wickets contributing to their woeful display. Off-spinner Don O’Neal bagged two for 17.
In reply, the Maple batsmen took just 11 overs to reach their target as Renaldo Parris hit four fours and a six in 33 off 25 balls, and veteran Pedro Agard was 25 not out when victory was achieved.
AT?SJPP: Premix?and Precast?Yorkshire advanced to the quarter-finals when they defeated Wildey Sports and Cultural Club by four wickets.
Set a target of 127 runs, Yorkshire reached 130 for six off 19.3 overs.
They were led to victory by all-rounder Jamar Layne, who top-scored with an undefeated 35, off 31 deliveries, while Armani Best chipped in with 32 off 28 balls.
Earlier, Wildey were restricted to 126 for eight off 20 overs.
Wicketkeeper/batsman Mario Albert top-scored with 40 not out with three fours and a six off 35 deliveries.
