STUDENTS LEAVING secondary school should have more than their birth and baptism certificates, contends retiring Graydon Sealy principal Matthew Farley.
And yesterday at the school’s annual speech day, he said every secondary student should be prepared so they can take at least five Caribbean Secondary Education Certificates or Caribbean Examination Council subjects.
Farley, who retires in August, also took the opportunity to tell students that he flogged them because he loves and cares for them.
“Yes, I have flogged you when I knew you needed to be. I chastised you otherwise when required but, above all, with my teaching and non-teaching staff, we loved and cared for you because we see your immense talent and potential and desire that you develop it to the fullest,” he said.
