Grandmother mourns loss

GREGORY COX, 13, of Ashby Land, Christ Church, also known as “Jacob Moses” was killed today after he was crushed between a fishing boat and the Oistins jetty, near to the Berinda Cox Market.
The student of the Princess Margaret Secondary School was among a group of friends when the accident occurred.
Cox lived with his grandmother, Margaret Cox, who was in a daze, barely able to accept what had happened. She said she could not believe she could see her grandson one minute and then lose him the next.
“I was watching football when he left. He didn’t even tell me anything. He used to go to the beach often, but I didn’t know he was on the jetty. I don’t feel good at all; I miss my grandson,” she said.
“I was sitting down still watching football and eating lunch. I went out there and saw my grandson laying down dead,” she said.
The distraught woman said Gregory liked to watch and play football and had dreams of joining a team. She said he had also loved to swim.
“He was very quiet; all who knew him know he never interfere with nobody,” she said. (CA)
