Combermere’s cricketers added to the school’s long list of major cricket championships when they defeated The 360 Cricket Academy of Australia to capture their sixth Sir Garfield Sobers International Schools Cricket Tournament title − the most by any team.

Tournament debutants 360 Academy, who had been unbeaten until Monday’s final at Kensington Oval, compiled 145 for eight after winning the toss.

The Waterford lads made light work of the target as openers Kastun Stoute and Shian Brathwaite blasted 115 in 15 overs before victory was completed in 19.4 overs with eight wickets remaining.

Stoute, the first to be dismissed, cracked six fours and four sixes in a 40-ball 59 while Brathwaite fell for 60 with five runs needed. The captain and wicketkeeper, who was later adjudged Player Of The Match, counted seven fours and two sixes in his knock, which spanned 65 balls. (AH)
