Kart blanche for Hinds

Christian Hinds strengthened his position at the top of the Championship Class with a clean sweep on Details Auto Valet/Scorpion Bed Liners Day of the Barbados Karting Association’s (BKA) FruTee Championship at Bushy Park last weekend.
Competing in the Yamaha 310lb Championship Class, Hinds ended the eighth race day with the maximum 100 points and pushed his overall score in the race for the champion driver’s title to 647, comfortably ahead of last year’s champion Matthew Noel on 426. Noel picked up 81 points on race day.
The other driver in the championship class, Owen Yarde, ended the day with 75 points and is third overall with 386.
Three other drivers scored maximum points on the course of the St. Philip racing facility: Tremaine Forde-Catwell, Saviola Thomas, and Orry Hunte.
Forde-Catwell, competing in the Yamaha 270-pound class, outshone Raphael Russell and Javani Smith, who collected 81 and 57 points, respectively.
Thomas won all at stake in the Yamaha 230-pound class and former karting champion driver Hunte swept the 125cc Shifter Class.
In the Easy Kart 60cc class, Joshua Maloney led the way with 96 points, pushing his overall total to a whopping 756, way ahead of his cousin Zane Maloney who trails him in second spot with 671.
Zane he grabbed 88 points during the day’s action.
Women’s driver Megan Gilkes finished third with 36 points for an overall score of 90, while newcomer Aiden Fortier opened her account with 18 points.
Race day No. 9 is scheduled for the same venue on October 24 at 9 a.m.
