Carifta athletes return to warm welcome

THE performance by Barbados was below expectations and the night weather was cold and rainy – reminding of the less than desirable conditions in Hamilton, Bermuda.
Barbados’ Carifta athletes, however, returned home Tuesday night to a big and warm welcome from friends, family and coaches at the Grantley Adams International Airport.
With placards bearing personal welcomes and congratulations for favourite performers, the crow erupted with a loud cheer as the athletes streamed out of the arrivals hall with drums and horns suggesting the return of conquering heroes.
The arrival of gold medallist Akela Jones was followed by the customary presentation of bouquets to the imposing six footer who seldom returns from international events empty handed.
