The Canadian Government yesterday donated $250 000 worth of computer equipment to the Barbados Defence Force.
Chief of Staff Alvin Quintyne said it will establish the BDF as an Information Technology Centre of excellence.
Speaking at the Paragon base in Christ Church before an audience that included Canadian High Commissioner Ruth Archibald and BDF?second in command Lieutenant Colonel Atheline Branch, Quintyne said that the benefits of the support go well beyond the installation of new servers, switches and other hardware systems.
“There is more to the Defence Force than firepower. Using this technology we can also make a significant contribution to the development of Barbados by using our skills, by using the equipment to assist in any way that we can.” (MK)
