The Ministry of Labour and Social Partnership Relations has teamed up with the Commonwealth of Learning to offer Barbadians the opportunity to upskill themselves during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Already, 2 948 individuals have registered for the courses which begin on August 31 and run until December 31.
Participants are being offered more than 400 specialisations in 4 000 courses from accredited international institutions including Stanford and Johns Hopkins University.
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Karen Best (left) is encouraging all Barbadians, including those who are already employed, to make good use of the opportunity. She said a person’s circumstances could change “at the drop of a hat”.
Minister of Labour Colin Jordan, Barbados Workers Union general secretary Senator Toni Moore and chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, Edward Clarke, also addressed the gathering.
