Neval Greenidge, Barbados Consul General to Miami, has broken his silence for the first time since the brutal death of his daughter on August 28.
A day after Corey Gill, was charged with killing his daughter optometrist Tanya Greenidge, 42, the Consul General told this newspaper that her death was “unbelievable shocking”.
“For me it’s devastating; it’s hurting; it’s unbelievably shocking,” he said during a telephone interview. “It is something that will stay with me until I die.”
He also denied a statement which occurred in another section of the media indicating that his daughter and Gill were involved in a domestic dispute at the time of her death, which occurred at her Green Point, St Philip home.
“The family has confirmed that there was not any dispute between Tanya and anybody. There was absolutely no dispute between her and anyone at any time in relation to this incident,” he said.
Gill, 36, of Croton Drive, Husbands, St James appeared in the District C Magistrates Court on Monday charged with murdering Greenidge.
He was remanded to Dodds Prison by Magistrate Elwood Watts.
On the day of the incident he was discovered unresponsive at Greenidge’s residence and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance.
However he was treated and released that same day for superficial cuts about his throat and body. (MB)
