Workshop Chaos

Hysteria reigned at the compound of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre yesterday, when eager taxi, coach and rental car operators exceeded the capacity of a training workshop organised by the Barbados Tourism Marketing Incorporated (BTMI).

More than 400 operators, hoping that business would soon return to a sense of normality for them during the COVID-19 pandemic, turned up at the Two Mile Hill, St Michael facility to attend the sensitisation workshop for health protocol training.

However, due to the centre’s protocols, only 310 people were allowed inside.

Some upset operators expressed their frustration and tried reasoning with the centre’s employees to let them in. Some eventually left when the employees did not budge, while others waited for more than two hours until their colleagues came out of the workshop with important information.
