Government is confident of a cruise sector rebound, despite the recent setback with SeaDream cancelling all its remaining cruises for 2020.

Far from throwing in the towel until the world begins to achieve vaccine herd immunity to the deadly COVID-19 virus, Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy Kirk Humphrey told the Sunday Sun his administration was putting measures in place to ensure Barbados was ready for whenever the industry could restart safely.

He noted that this difficult period was one that called for innovation as the sector seeks to emerge from the crisis even stronger.

“The cruise industry must do what they have to do as they explore an unplanned future like the rest of us. We all must self-analyse, innovate, improvise and look at new ways of doing things and doing them better. It is a difficult moment, but we cannot anchor all our efforts in this moment . . .,” said Humphrey.
