Chief executive officer of the Barbados Agricultural Society (BAS) James Paul is slamming a group of businesses he says is involved in the importation and sale of chicken breasts and pork chops.

Deeming their actions as “unjust”, “reckless”, “undermining” and “unacceptable”, he called on the relevant authorities to review the process through which the importers brought in the meats and check to see if it was in accordance with the regulations that govern their licence.

Speaking during a press conference at the BAS’ headquarters, The Grotto, St Michael, on Thursday, Paul claimed there were at least two businesses involved in bringing in the meats but he could not give details as to when the shipment arrived or the quantity.

However, he said he was made aware of the imported goods being sold at two outlets on Wednesday.
