Louis Lynch school property sold to Wibisco

Date:

The property on which the abandoned Louis Lynch Secondary School buildings stand is being sold to biscuit manufacturing company Wibisco.

The sale got the nod from Parliament today in a land resolution bill introduced by Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance, Dr William Duguid, and later passed in a unanimous vote.

The property which is located close to Wibisco at Whitepark Road, St Michael, was abandoned over the last 15 years after an environmental issued forced the closure of the school.

Duguid told the House management at the biscuit manufacturing company indicated they would be converting the site into a playing field, since the existing one was earmarked for expansion of the plant.

Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley supported the resolution and suggested the money from the sale should be reinvested in education. (GC)
