De Peiza: March a symptom of greater discontent

Government brought Saturday’s march against mandatory and coerced vaccination upon itself, said Democratic Labour Party (DLP) president Verla De Peiza., while addressing a Christ Church West branch meeting on Sunday.

The political leader said the march was a symptom of greater discontent.

“There was more in the hearts of people than concerns about a vaccine, it was the result of suppression and oppression and we are seeing it again as they seek to shove becoming a republic down our throats,” she said during the meeting at Arthur Smith Primary School, St Mathias, Christ Church.

Recalling the 2017 march against the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL), under the previous DLP administration, De Peiza  said yet again people dressed in white took to the streets. She said that this time around, however, the walk was against the ruling Barbados Labour Party and there was no political or union involvement.

“The people of Barbados organically took to the streets, dressed in the same white, and chanting . . . ,” she said. (CA)
