PSV driver has COVID; passengers asked to get tested

A public service vehicle driver has tested positive for COVID-19.

As a result, the Ministry of Health and Wellness and the Alliance Owners of Public Transport (AOPT) are advising passengers who travelled on route taxi ZR 85 anytime between Monday, August 23, and Sunday, August 29, and came into close contact with the driver, to present themselves for testing right away.

The driver became ill on Monday, August 30, while travelling on Route 11 (Silver Sands, Christ Church), and had to be assisted by medical personnel and passengers.  He was tested for COVID-19 and his result returned positive on Tuesday, August 31.

Anyone who came into close contact with the driver on August 30 is encouraged to get tested for COVID-19 from Sunday, September 5.  Additionally, people who are experiencing symptoms and believe that they were exposed to the driver should seek medical attention and get tested from September 5.

Testing for people connected with the incident can be facilitated at the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, Warrens; the Branford Taitt Polyclinic, Black Rock, or the Wildey Gymnasium testing site, Wildey, all in St Michael. (BGIS)
