Five months after Government stopped all operations at the B’s Recycling Centre in Cane Garden, St Thomas, owner Paul Bynoe says with no word yet on possible reopening, he has now been forced to cut some of his staff.

It is the second time in as many months that the businessman has made public his call for answers from the Government as to when he can once again reopen the metal collection component of his business. But this time, he said he was truly at the end of the line.

Bynoe said with no income from the metal depot, despite receiving verbal confirmation from regulators that all of the necessary corrective measures were complete, he had been forced to put four employees on the breadline, with more likely to follow.

“I have no choice but to start to tighten up and when I say tighten up, I mean we had to lay off a few people because we simply cannot do any better. So far, we have had to send home four people and as time goes on we have to tighten up even further because there is no way we can continue like this with no income coming in. These are not oranges or mangoes that we are talking about, but people who have families to feed and children to send to school just like everybody else,” Bynoe said. (CLM)
