UPDATE: Fatal accident in Belle Gully

A 35-year-old man is the island’s second road fatality for 2018.

He died in a single-car accident in the area of Belle Gully, St Michael around 4 o’clock this morning.

Update

The man has been identified as Alberto Fabrisco Samuel, 35, of Green Hill, St Michael, and formerly of Indian Ground, St Peter. Nineteen-year-old Sara Gibson, of Dodds Land, St Philip was also injured in the accident.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Samuel was the front seat passenger in a car being driven by Gibson. Whilst travelling along Belle Gully Road, Gibson lost control of the vehicle and collided with a guard wall.

Samuel died at the scene, whilst Gibson was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance. She suffered a broken left leg, and complained of pain to her chest.

Investigations are continuing. The police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this accident or can provide any information to assist in these investigations to contact the District ‘A’ Police station at 430-7242 or 430-7246. (BARBADOS NATION/PR)
