A long-awaited solution to the South Coast sewage problem may be in sight.

Before the measures are finalised and announced, however, temporary relief will be coming for those directly affected by the sewage crisis as the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) plans to take them off the network.

BWA manager of communications and rapid response, Joy-Ann Haigh, told the DAILY NATION this was one of the solutions coming out of yesterday’s meeting at the BWA’s Pine, St Michael headquarters where members of the wastewater, engineering and communications divisions met with chairman Dr Atlee Brathwaite to present proposals on the way forward.

She said the suggestions sought to deal with the network blockage and breaches and issues with the South Coast Sewage Treatment Plant itself.

In the meantime, Haigh said the BWA was taking those directly impacted by the sewage overflow offline temporarily to bring them some form of relief. (AD)
