Duo facing four drug charges

Members of the Drug Squad have arrested and separately charged Antoinette Cyrillene Thomas, 36, of McClean Road, Silver Sands, Christ Church, and Roger Orlando Holder, 50, of Apt 3, # 852 Kingsland Crescent, Christ Church, for a number of drug related offences.

The offences were allegedly committed on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Thomas and Holder were separately charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to supply, trafficking of cannabis, and importation of cannabis.

On December 30, Thomas and Holder arrived on the island by air from Canada. Thomas who was travelling with her two daughters − ages 16 years, and 10 months − was directed to Customs by police after a canine unit on duty flagged her luggage. 

During a search by Customs, 18 transparent vacuum sealed packages, each containing cannabis, were discovered concealed in the false bottoms of two suitcases. Twelve packages in one suitcase which bore her daughter’s name and six packages in a suitcase which bore her name. Thomas was subsequently arrested, and later charged.

The total weigh of cannabis in Thomas’ possession was 9.5 kilos with an estimated street value of $70 000.

A search of Holder’s luggage by Customs revealed 12 sealed packages, each containing cannabis, concealed in the false bottoms of two suitcases. Holder was subsequently arrested and later charged.

The total weigh of cannabis in Holder’s possession was 6.3 kilos with an estimated street value of $50 400.

Thomas and Holder are expected to appear in Court tomorrow. (PR)
