Workers ‘must get decent work, pay’

WHILE GENERAL SECRETARY of the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU), Toni Moore, is pleased unemployment numbers are on the decline and there is economic growth in the country, she wants employers to ensure workers are paid more.

She made that call during a fiery 30-minute address at the BWU’s Family Day and Picnic at the National Botanical Gardens, Waterford, St Michael yesterday.

Moore also called on the Government to step up.

“I say to you the Government of Barbados, that I am a part of, I say to you it is not enough for workers to have a job,” she said, as the large crowd cheered.
