MICHAEL JOHNSON’S STORY of spearfishing on scuba is a fisherman’s tale of predator verses prey.

Michael has mastered the stealth art of sneaking up on fish in their natural habitat. After targeting his prey, he spears each fish in seconds and hooks them onto a carrier.

The Saturday Sun caught up with Johnson at Six Men’s Bay, St Peter, and he discussed the ins and outs of his hobby turned into full-time job.

Johnson and his fishing buddy, Chris, go fishing six days a week. Every morning around 8 a.m. they take Husky, a day boat, a mile out to sea and complete their fishing routine before returning to shore four and-a-half hours later. (SB)
