THE POLICE COMPLAINTS AUTHORITY (PCA) is worried about the current state of relations between lawmen and the general public.
It is also concerned that the majority of Barbadians alleging “unbecoming behaviour” by police are still filing their grouses with the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) and not the PCA.
Last year Barbadians contacted the PCA and made 19 complaints against RBPF members, the same number as 2015.
However, in the PCA’s 2016 annual report recently laid in Parliament, the chairman, retired High Court judge LeRoy Inniss, said the statutory body “received from the Commissioner of Police notice of 102 complaints made to the [RBPF’s] Office of Professional Responsibility”. (SC)
