THERE WILL BE A ding-dong battle at Kensington Oval Friday as 18 semi-finalists vie for one of the nine spots in the Courtesy/Mount Gay Pic-O-De-Crop Finals.

The line up, announced yesterday morning around 1:40 at Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, includes four former kaiso monarchs, four former junior monarchs, a “people’s king”, three newcomers and five women.

Veteran kaisonian Observer, who earned the name The People’s King for his consistency over the years, is back in the big yard after a 12-year break from competition.

“It’s always good to be able to represent the people via kaiso. I am really elated about the songs and what they are doing on behalf of the people. It feels good to be here after so many years. People keep saying it is like I never left,” he told the Saturday Sun. (TTY)
