Soccer kids sending SOS

THE Caribbean Children’s Charity Shield Soccer Classic is asking corporate Barbados to help raise $204 777 to send local footballers on the Road To Kingstown.

“We have a few Government agencies that part sponsor this venture and we are thankful,” said Tricia Browne, secretary of the charity.

“Fundraising plays a pivotal role in raising the majority of our funds. Right now all clubs have sponsored walk sheets, fish fries, community fairs. I would really like people to come out and see what the tournament is all about and sponsor us. Hopefully, the Road To Kingstown will push that and put a face to what we are doing.”

One of the charity’s future goals is to eventually host an international Caribbean Children Charity tournament in the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 divisions to allow local players to enter international tournaments outside the Caribbean region. (RA)
