Pinelands down Bulls in women’s opener

SO FAR, so good.

Preferred Insurance Brokers Pinelands couldn’t have bounced off their title defence any better after blowing out Burger King Clapham Bulls 60-26 in Sunday’s No.1 Beauty Supplies and Beauty Exchange Women’s Basketball League.

Playing at the Barbados Community College, Pinelands held Clapham to just six first-quarter points and ten for the entire first half while leading by as many as 19 (25-6) over the initial 20 minutes.

They were even without league MVP and last year’s leading scorer Maria “Flowers” Cumberbatch, who left the game early to contest the Touch of Class Road Tennis Tournament. (JM)
