A MORE IMPOSING HYATT ZIVA hotel in Carlisle Bay will be welcomed, so long as the developers are prepared to address specific concerns expressed by Barbadians.
This was the consensus at Tuesday night’s town hall meeting at the Copacabana Beach Club on Bay Street, St Michael, that will see a US$175 million combination of buildings from ten to 18 storeys high going up at the nearby Carlisle Bay site to form the 380-room and 40-condo Hyatt Ziva Barbados.
It is projected to provide 2 500 “direct jobs” during construction and 1 500 when the hotel goes into full operation, and to contribute an estimated US$70 million per annum to Barbados’ gross domestic product (GDP).
Developers Mark Maloney and James Edghill gave Barbadians the opportunity to speak their minds on the project and scores of people packed the Copacabana to hear and voice concerns. (GC)
